I went to school with Luke and Calum, so we, we kinda knew each other just through there. Luke was just posting covers on youtube and stuff. I was just like “Dude, lets make a band.” We had a gig booked, and after we booked the gig we were like “We don’t even have a drummer!” so, I knew Ashton, he went to like a school near us, and I was like, “Hey, man, do you wanna play a gig to like two hundred people?” And he was like “Yeah, I do!” And there were like twelve people there. Thus, 5 Seconds of Summer was born.“
